Van Eck Debuts Brazil Small Cap Fund
Van Eck has added a Brazillian Small Cap fund to its innovatve lineup of international equity ETFs. The Market Vectors Brazil Small Cap (BRF) began trading late last week on the NYSE Arca exchange. The fund tracks Market Vector’s own Brazil Small Cap Index.
The fund invests in companies with market caps between $250 million and $3.8 billion, and unlike most Brazilian funds, it focuses mostly on firms that do business in thier home market. Its largest sector holdings are in household durables, food, and retail.
Investor interest has led to strong volume. Not surprising considering the iShares MSCI Brazil Index (EWZ) has been one of the top performing ETFs of all time.
